Board of Directors
The Board of Directors of Laraib comprises eight directors all seasoned and experienced professionals in their respective fields.
Khalid Mansoor, Chairman
Mr. Khalid Mansoor is the CEO of The Hub Power Company Limited since May 20, 2013. Mr. Khalid Mansoor is a graduate in Chemical Engineering with over 35 years of experience and expertise in Energy & Petrochemical Sectors in leading roles for mega size Projects Development, Execution, Management and Operations.
He has previously served as the CEO of Algeria Oman Fertilizer Company (AOA) located in Industrial Zone of Arzew. Prior to AOA, he held the position of the President and CEO of Engro Fertilizers Limited, Engro Powergen Qadirpur Limited (EPQL), Engro Powergen Limited (EPL) and Sindh Engro Coal Mining Company (SECMC). He had been a Director on the Boards of Engro Corporation as well as a number of its subsidiaries.
Javed Akbar has undergraduate and post-graduate qualification in Chemical Engineering from the United Kingdom, and has over 40 years of experience in fertilizer and chemical business with Exxon, Engro and Vopak.
He has managed Exxon and Engro fertilizers plants and their expansions in Pakistan, worked in Exxon’s Chemical Technology divisions in USA and Canada, and served as Human Resources Manager in Exxon Pakistan. He was part of the buyout team when Exxon divested its stake in Engro.
Prior to his retirement in 2006, he was Chief Executive of Engro Vopak Terminal Limited, a joint venture between Engro and Royal Vopak of Holland. After his retirement, he established a consulting company specializing in analyzing and forecasting petroleum, petrochemical and energy industry trends and providing strategic insight. He is on the boards of Engro Fertilizers Limited, Engro Powergen Limited, Engro Powergen Qadirpur Limited, Engro Vopak Terminal Limited, and Javed Akbar Associates (Private) Limited. He also serves on the panel of Energy Experts Group and environmental experts of Sindh Environmental Protection Agency. He joined the board of Hub Power Company Limited in 2017.
Mr. Qaiser Javed is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan. Mr. Javed has over 30 years of experience and is presently Director Finance of Fauji Foundation. He is a Nominee Director of Fauji Foundation on several of its companies.
In the Power Sector, Mr. Javed is serving on the Board of The Hub Power Company since 2006. He is also a Director of Daharki Power Holdings Limited, Foundation Wind Energy I & II Limited, and Fauji Kabirwala Power Company Ltd.
An engineer by profession, Tahir Jawaid has over 31 years of vast experience and expertise in Power, Fertilizer & Petrochemical Sectors.
Currently, he is also working as the Chief Executive Officer at HPSL, which is a subsidiary of The Hub Power Company Limited (HUBCO). Previously, he was associated with HUBCO as Senior Vice President (Corporate Services & New Venture), to develop Projects based on imported & local Coal. Before joining Hubco he was the Senior Vice President, Human Resources and Public Affairs of Engro Corporation Limited.
He also worked in the United States in various capacities for system and design engineering companies. During his professional career, he held key roles in Management of HR, Planning, Materials Warehouse Management and Maintenance Management Systems.
Mr. Jawaid obtained MS in Industrial Engineering from the University of Houston, USA, and BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Engineering & Technology, Pakistan.
Mr. Muazzam has been associated with private hydropower projects development for more than a decade. Having worked for Laraib Energy at various management positions, he is currently employed as Deputy CEO for Azad Pattan Hydropower Project and serving on the Board of Directors of hydropower projects having cumulative capacity of over 1000MW. He is from the field of Chartered Accountancy, have worked for KPMG and BDO Pakistan offices and holds previous experiences in relation to financing arrangements, audit, imports, supply chain, taxation, accounting, financial management and controls.
Mr. Majeed is a senior Chartered Accountant and Director of Coate & Co (Pvt) Limited. Mr. Majeed is also the founding member of Hameed Majeed Associates (Pvt.) Ltd. (“HMA”), a management consulting firm established in 1989 in association with Hameed Chaudhri & Co., Chartered Accountants; he is also a director of Metmin Mining Corporation (Pvt) Limited. Mr. Majeed qualified with Price Waterhouse & Co. Australia, and joined A.F. Ferguson & Co. upon his return to Pakistan. Mr. Majeed has rich international and local experience in audit, management consultancy, industry and commerce.
Muhammad Kamran Kamal, CEO
Prior to becoming CEO, Kamran held the position of Vice President, China Power Hub Generation Company where he was responsible for development of Barge Jetty and fuel supply chain for 1320 MW Coal fired Power Plant.
Previously, he was Commodities Trade Head, Engro EXIMP FZE where he managed Fertiliser, Coal, Oilseeds and Sugar Trading Portfolio. He led the company's growth into new geographies and commodities portfolio. During his tenure at Engro, Kamran was also involved in major energy & infrastructure projects including Thar Coal Mining & Power Plant, LNG Floating terminal and RLNG based power plant.
He is an energy technology and policy specialist with experience in several different areas, including business strategy, wholesale electricity market reforms, electricity derivatives, energy technology evaluation and large scale infrastructure project structuring.
As chief executive officer, Kamran is committed to maintaining Laraib's commitments to operational excellence, growth initiatives, health, safety and environment, ethics and compliance and community engagement.
Kamran has a Masters in Public Policy from Harvard University and a Bachelors degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Georgia Tech.
Aly Khan is an Honors M.Sc. Graduate from Boston College and an Undergraduate B.S. from Northeastern University. Over the course of the last decade he has cultivated his professional career working in London, Singapore and New York for various global institutions including Citi Group and Yang Ming Marine Transport Corporation in several management and training capacities. Locally, Mr. Khan has extended valuable contributions to multiple ventures through key management roles including spearheading the construction and operation of Pakistan’s first commercial L.E.E.D. Certified Building, setting up a state-of-the-art 8,000 ton per day cement plant and growing one of the country’s largest dairy businesses to 600,000 liters per day of sales.
